Revillagigedos Islands Await!
The crew of the Nautilus Belle Amie has reported great diving conditions over the last few weeks and it is only getting better with the arrival of the humpback whales and increasing numbers of sharks!
According to their dispatch:We have been enjoying some very good diving so far this year with lots of giant mantas and good sharking. The water temperatures are cooling off now which means the sharking is getting better and better and the first humpback whales of the season have arrived. Please take a look through our blogs from guests and crew, photos and videos at www.nautilusatsea.com for up to date reports on what the diving has been like over the last couple of weeks.
For Shame: 2016 Shark Fishing Season
2016 starts off on a sad note, as huge numbers of sharks are expected to perish.
36 sharks per boat per day may be taken, who knows how many permitted boats are out there. 36X7 days per week X 4 weeks X 12 months in the year totals 12,096 sharks and that's only ONE boat. NOAA says "No Significant Impact". What do you think?
Watch a short video about it HERE.
If you love sharks as much as we do, please consider signing the online petition HERE.
Coming in April... Socorro Big Animal Scuba Safari
Revillagigedos Islands (April 2-10, 2016): We'll be heading there soon... one of Bruce's top 3 spots in the world to dive. It will simply be unlike anything you've ever seen before.
These cool waters are abundant with sea life, a gathering spot for all the biggest beasts in the sea.
We hope by the end of the trip we call all pronounce the name of the islands correctly... 'Revillagigedo'... but until then we'll keep calling it Socorro, the name of its most distinctive island.
Stunning Photograph From Roca Partida
A photographer won National Geographic's 2015 Photo Contest with an awe-inspiring shot taken near Roca Partida in the Revillagigedo Islands. This is where we'll be diving in April, a site is known for its vast array of pelagic life. Look at the shot in the link below for inspiration and get your cameras ready!
